# How health works

> What a company's health means and where you'll see it.

Every company in GainTrace carries a health status, so you can tell at a glance who's doing well and who needs a look. You don't set this up. GainTrace works it out from the data flowing in from your connected sources.

## The three states

Health lands in one of three states:

* **Healthy** (green): things look good.
* **At risk** (amber): worth keeping an eye on.
* **Churning** (red): needs attention.

Each company also has a numeric score, so you can compare accounts and sort by it.

## Where you'll see it

* On the **Companies** list, as a colored dot in the Health column. You can filter the list by health, or switch to the board layout to group accounts by state.
* At the top of each **company's page**, alongside a trend that shows how the score has moved recently.

## Good to know

* Health updates as new data comes in, so a score reflects the latest picture rather than a one-time snapshot.
* Health is a guide, not a verdict. Use it to decide where to look first, then open the company for the full story.
