# Delete a person record

> Permanently deletes this one record. If the same human is also at other Companies, those records stay. To remove a human everywhere, use `DELETE /people` with `externalId` or `email`. Fires `contact.deleted`. Their survey data is erased too, except where they belong to another Company: answers to your surveys are anonymized (name, email and free text removed, scores and choices kept), imported answers are deleted, and their short personal survey links are deleted. Answers that carry only an email address are kept while another record in the workspace still has that email.

**Scope:** `write:contacts`
